Information on passenger safety »

For passenger safety, shown on the pictures are the short list of official types of Leeds Licensed Hackney Carriage Taxis that will service festival goers this year from Yellow Gate. Alternatively click on the NEW ITEM highlighted in RED below!!

Leeds Hackney carriages are easily noticed as they carry a 'Black & White' livery (Black Bonnet & Boot - White Body), they also have advertisments on them. The saloon vehicles ONLY carry the livery and no adverts. (please see picture examples opposite)

PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR A NEW CAMPAIGN JUST RECENTLY LAUNCHED BY LEEDS CITY COUNCIL TO HIGHTEN AWARENESS TO THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC OF THE DANGERS OF UNLICENSED VEHICLES PLYING FOR HIRE ILLEGALLY.

Please, if you hail a Hackney Carriage ONLY then check the rear of the vehicle to ensure they are licensed for LEEDS and not touting from outside the city. There should also be a licence number displayed inside the vehicle both on an internal door and also on the front windscreen. In addition there may be a front sticker displaying the plate number of the vehicle (check this states LEEDS), if the vehicle has a coloured livery then do as above and check the rest of the vehicle. We want ALL users to be totally safe. So travel wise, travel safe!

No Hackney Carriage Taxis from outside Leeds can be hailed on the streets of Leeds as they are not allowed to Cross Border Hire and as such Leeds Hackney Carriages are the only Taxis (not private hire) that can be hired without prebooking.

PLEASE DO NOT TRAVEL IN A 'PRIVATE HIRE OR MINICAB' IF YOU HAVE NOT PRE-BOOKED ONE FOR YOUR JOURNEY.

TOUTING IS ILLEGAL, YOU WILL BE UNINSURED AND MORE THAN LIKELY WILL BE CHARGED FAR HIGHER THAN YOU WOULD BE VIA THE OFFICIAL LICENSED HACKNEY CARRIAGE TAXIS AT THE EVENT.

INCASE OF ANY QUESTIONS THEN PLEASE CONTACT THE ASSOCIATION BY EMAIL BY CLICKING ON THE ICON BELOW. PLEASE ENSURE YOU PUT YOUR NUMBER IN YOUR CORRESPONDENCE AND A REPLY WILL BE GIVEN.

We would like to emphasise that it is every persons choice of their method of travel. If you choose to travel via a Private hire vehicle, which is a licensed vehicle, then please make sure you have prebooked.

Please note: Private Hire vehicles are not allowed to be hired on the street. Their licence only allows for prebookings (i.e calling the company before hand and setting a pick up time).

If you should wish to use a prebooked Hackney Carriage Taxi for your pick up / drop off then find those details below.

Streamline-Telecabs: 4,5,6 seats + wav: 0113 244 3322

(wav = wheelchair accessible vehicle)

All Leeds Hackney Carriages operate from Leeds City Train Station and other ranks within the City Centre. Details relating to the pricing will be displayed on information boards inside Leeds City Train Station.

In addition, this year there will be information within the train station with staff available to answer questions and help with directions to the planned overflow rank just next to the Train Station specifically for passengers travelling to the festival.

If you chose to use this rank then come out of the station and head down the main steps onto Bishopgate Street where you will be met by staff who will direct you to the reserved rank area just yards away. Flyers will be handed out indicating prices to and from the event and flyers will be posted in Leeds Train Station showing the prices also.

Why wait for a bus to load up?

why sit on an old age bus?

Use a Hackney Carriage Taxi to get you to & from site

6 seat Taxi £3.34 per person to Yellow Gate

5 seat Taxi £4.00 per person to Yellow Gate

4 seat Taxi £5.00 per person to Yellow Gate

ALL based on one price of £20 to Yellow Gate

Please note that the individual prices stated above or below are based on full occupancy of each Taxi stated.

At the prices quoted to and from the site (Yellow Gate), it averages £8 return for a five seated taxi!

Cheaper than the bus this year and much much quicker too.

A four seater averages £10 return, still only £1.50 more per 4 seater than a bus ride

(avge 37p per passenger more).

So why wait, jump in a Hackney Carriage Taxi and save time and money!!!

YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE!!

Also this year, use a Hackney Carriage from Yellow Gate to transport you to and from either Tesco (Seacroft) OR NEW this year...Morrisons (Wetherby).

The fixed price for these is £10 each way

6 seat Taxi £1.67 per person Yellow Gate

5 seat Taxi £2.00 per person Yellow Gate

4 seat Taxi £2.50 per person Yellow Gate

So why wait for the bus to take you to Tesco when you can now go by Taxi to either supermarket.

Morrisons:

Weds & Sat - 8am - 8pm

Thur & Fri - 8am - 9pm

Tesco:

Weds - Sat - 24 Hours

*(alcohol sales finish @ 11pm)*

DON'T BELIEVE WHAT THE BUS OPERATOR WILL TELL YOU....

THESE PRICES ARE GENUINE AND NOT UNREALISTIC.

THEY WILL TELL YOU THIS BECAUSE THEY WANT THE PASSENGERS THEMSELVES!!!
